ToggleWHAT HAPPENED?
After a fiery start to a new journey at Marseille last summer, Greenwood experienced a sudden dip in form. Since the start of March, the ex-Manchester United winger had scored just two goals in six Ligue 1 appearances. But he regained his form in style as he scored a brace in the club's thumping 5-1 win over Montpellier last Sunday.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Despite the recent drop in form, Greenwood has received support from his manager, Roberto De Zerbi, as the ex-Brighton boss claimed that the player has regained his "speed and explosiveness." Greenwood is currently second in the Ligue 2024-25 Golden Boot race as he trails leader Ousmane Dembele by three goals.

WHAT ROBERO DE ZERBI SAID
Speaking to reporters, the Italian coach said: "I think that physically, everyone is back. We see with Mason Greenwood, his speed and explosiveness have returned. It's normal physiologically, over 10 months, over 33 matches, there is a drop sometimes. We had injuries, Murillo against Nantes, Hojbjerg too, Balerdi… There are different reasons. These are not excuses, but these are situations that led us to this drop in form. We have to make decisions, we have to do it at the right time."
